Patient Advocacy

A private nurse in your corner when medical decisions feel overwhelming

I am Adrienne Angel, RN, MSN, CNL, PHN — a private patient advocate based in Marin County, serving families in Marin and Petaluma in person and clients anywhere in the United States by phone and video. I sit beside patients and families when the medical system feels too fast, too fragmented, or too high-stakes to navigate alone.

What private patient advocacy looks like

Private patient advocacy is personalized, nurse-led support that puts the patient and family at the center of every decision. I translate medical information into plain language, prepare you for important appointments, follow up on test results and referrals, and make sure the people caring for you actually hear what matters to you. My role is independent — I work for you, not for a hospital or insurance plan.

Why families in Marin and Petaluma hire a private advocate

Healthcare in the Bay Area is excellent, but it is also large and fragmented. Patients see specialists across UCSF, MarinHealth, Kaiser, Sutter, and private practices, often with little communication between them. I bring a clinical eye, calm communication, and a single point of accountability so nothing important falls through the cracks.

When to bring me in

Most families reach out when something has shifted — a new diagnosis, a hospital stay, a sudden change in function, conflicting medical opinions, or simply the dawning realization that no one person is steering the ship. The earlier I am involved, the more proactive the support can be.

What I do for clients

  • Review your medical history and current care with a clinical eye
  • Prepare you (and attend, when appropriate) for key medical appointments
  • Translate diagnoses, test results, and treatment options into plain language
  • Coordinate communication across your physicians and specialists
  • Help families align on care priorities and next steps
  • Provide a steady, private point of contact between visits

Common Questions

Questions families often search for

A private patient advocate is an independent professional — in my case, a registered nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing — who works directly for the patient and family. I help you understand your medical situation, prepare for appointments, coordinate between providers, and make confident decisions about your care.

Insurance case managers work for the insurer and are bound by what the plan covers. As a private nurse advocate I work only for you, so my recommendations are based on what is clinically right for the patient and the family — not on what an insurance plan prefers.

Yes. I offer in-person advocacy throughout Marin County and Petaluma, including San Rafael, Novato, Mill Valley, Tiburon, Larkspur, and Corte Madera, with virtual support available across the United States.

Engagements begin with a complimentary discovery call. From there, a one-time Comprehensive Care Advocacy Assessment is $1,200, with flat-fee ongoing support: the Recheck / Reassessment Package at $800 (prep call, one-hour visit + chart deep dive) and the Appointment Advocacy Package at $450 plus travel for in-person visits (no travel fee for virtual) — prep, attendance, and a written debrief, not a flat fee just to attend.

Ready for a calmer next step?

The discovery call is complimentary and confidential. We will talk through your situation and decide together whether private nurse advocacy is the right fit.
